Arthur Jack Bullman was born in Swaffham Prior on 16th August 1894 (Newmarket Q4-1894 3B:495), son of Martha BULLMAN ( a domestic cook born 1868 in Wicken, Cambridgeshire).

He is recorded in both census as Jack BULLMAN. His mother has not been identified in any census after 1891 (nor any marriage confirmed)

1901 census...Aged 6, he was at Mutton Row, Swaffham Prior with his grandfather William BULLMAN [57] horsekeeper, born Wicken, his grandmother Eliza [55] born Soham, aunt Mrs Harriet WEBB [23] born Upware ( she had married George WEBB in 1900) and her daughter Edie [1 month] born Swaffham Prior, and aunt Florence BULLMAN [15] born Swaffham Prior.

1911 census...Aged 16, a gardener, he was at High Street, Swaffham Prior with William and Eliza BULLMAN, now recorded as Uncle and Aunt.




He died in a military hospital in Ripon, Yorkshire, (Ripon Q3-1915 9A:87), from Emphysema, brought home to Swaffham Prior for burial on 17th September 1915. It appears he never served abroad and therefore has no medal entitlement. His sole legatee was his grandmother Eliza.
